Parks and Nature Reserves

J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge The J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is a prominent feature of Sanibel Island, covering over 6,400 acres. This refuge is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including migratory birds, alligators, and manatees. Visitors can explore the refuge through hiking and biking trails, as well as a scenic drive that offers excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and photography.

Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation manages numerous preserves and works to protect and preserve the natural environment of Sanibel Island. Beaches

Bowman's Beach Bowman's Beach is a popular destination on Sanibel Island, known for its pristine sandy shores and excellent shelling opportunities. The beach is equipped with amenities such as picnic areas, barbecue grills, and restrooms. It is a favorite spot for both locals and tourists who enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing.

Blind Pass Beach Blind Pass Beach, located at the western end of Sanibel Island, is another well-known beach area. It is famous for its shelling and fishing opportunities. The strong currents at Blind Pass make it less suitable for swimming but attract those interested in water sports and fishing.

Sanibel Historical Museum and Village The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village offers a detailed look into the island's history. Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille is a waterfront restaurant that offers a variety of seafood and Caribbean-inspired dishes. The restaurant is named after a character in Randy Wayne White's novels and is known for its relaxed atmosphere and live music events.

The Timbers Restaurant and Fish Market The Timbers Restaurant and Fish Market is a well-established seafood restaurant on Sanibel Island. Yearly Festivals and Events

Sanibel Shell Festival The Sanibel Shell Festival is one of the island's most celebrated events, held annually in March. Taste of the Islands Taste of the Islands is an annual food festival held in November, featuring local restaurants and chefs. Proceeds from the event benefit the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

Sanibel Music Festival The Sanibel Music Festival takes place every March and features a series of classical music concerts. The principles of our Company grew up here, and have been a part of the local marine and construction industry since the mid-70s, having built and repaired many of the area’s waterfront landmarks.  We tackle projects large and small and commit to thorough communication, minimal disruption, and a quality result - every time.

We love what we do and it shows. Collier County has changed tremendously since we launched and the population continues to expand. Waterfront properties are being developed and improved by existing owners as well as new Collier residents. Giving Back

Captain Jim Kalvin has been a life-long supporter of the Marine Industry, and an out-spoken advocate for waterfront property owners and the boating Public. As a Charter Member and current Board Member of the Marine Industries Association of Collier County, and the Founder and President of Standing Watch, Inc, Jim has represented water access interests all over the State, including testifying to the Governor and Cabinet on numerous occasions, and helping to write and pass legislation favorable to our waterfront life-style. 

Jim’s work on behalf of the State’s “Boating Community” has been recognized by Governor Jeb Bush, the Coastal Conservation Association, the Marine Industries Association of Florida, The Marine Industries Association of South Florida, the Florida Marine Contractor’s Association, and the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association.
